Fava Bean Hummus*

Fresh shelled fava beans

Ingredients
2 c well-cooked fresh fava beans (see this article on how to prep your favas)
2 Tbsp tahini
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 c water
2 cloves garlic
Juice of 1 lime
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Blend all till smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning. Store in the refrigerator.
* NOTE: While delicious for those who can eat them, fava beans can be toxic to some people. Additionally, fava beans (also called broad beans or pigeon beans) are high in tyramine, and shouldn't be eaten by people who take MAO inhibitors (e.g. antidepressants.)
