Noun: widger (plural widgers) (horticulture) a small gardening tool used to loosen soil, consisting of a handle and long thin spatula, usually made of metal. –Wiktionary

This tool measures 7" long and three-fourths of an inch wide, tapering to one half inch. It's great for pricking out delicate seedlings and transplanting small starts. It can also be used as a small scoop or to side-dress plants. Bountiful Gardens used to carry them but I recently discovered some other online sources for this handy little tool. If you've never used one, treat yourself. www.groworganic.com/nitpicker.html
